That's really interesting... I never had thought of that interpretation before, though to be honest there were always a few lines that made the suicide interpretation not sit quite right with me. I like this reading better, too, and it plays into a tendency I have to think of drowning as a metaphor for losing yourself completely to something that you don't know how to deal with.
