I was all confident in my assumption that he'd HAVE to be alive if his ankle hurt, but zomgzomgzomg I just read your comment about hanging upsidedown and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. Oh god, that hadn't occured to me.
It seems to fit more with the overall mood of the story, but I reaaally want them to be alive. A little from column A, a little from column B: in my head, they're going to start getting post-its with names on them aaaany time now...
