Reno has been systematically breaking my heart for the last nine years. :( I'm glad you like my take on him - I know it's not technically 'canon', what with AC, but I already had his mannerisms/speech patterns burned into my brain long before AC came out and he doesn't want to bend.
Also, I'm glad to hear that the ending wasn't predictable. I tried to weave enough dissonance into it so that on a second reading there'd be things to pick up on, but not enough to give it away the first time through. Awesome that it worked. :)
