Snagged from wednesday42 , from whom I requested a drabble; now reposting as requested.

Fandom-wise I'd say anything I currently have fic for is fair game (Watchmen, Doctor Who, Final Fantasy 7(Turks only, sorry), Equilibrium, M*A*S*H, Moon, Hitchhiker's Guide) as well as a few others that I've written stuff for but never posted it (Human Target, Echo Bazaar, Scrubs, Firefly, Dead Like Me, and in honor of its 25th anniversary, BTTF!), but I fully expect the majority to be WM and that's cool.

So, to quote the prompt:

I AM ANAL ABOUT THE 100 WORDS THING, it will be PRECISELY 100 words if I can manage it. :D

Nevermind. I am picky about this when the drabbles are a personal challenge for ME, but these are meant to be gifts, and I won't make them less good just to shave them down to 100 words.

“The Big Bad Wolf,” the man calls himself, and he’s pulling from the old version, violent and fierce, before all the rough edges had been smoothed away. The newspapers start out calling him a themed villain, a harmless howler of rooftops, but then the bodies start turning up—young, chewed apart, partially eaten, and forensics makes it clear: no dog did this.

Rorschach cannot handle the case; cannot explain why, and his eloquent voice so broken only makes Dan more furious in his pursuit. Nights normally unwound in an ambling watch over his territory are now spent tracking and hunting. Cracking just a little, maybe. Relentless.

When they finally meet, the wolf learns, in bloody shades of brown and moonlight—owls are predators, too.

I love the subtext here and how you made Dan both dangerous and very in character!

I know Dan is generally this squishy ball of dawww, but he can be fucking fierce when he wants to be/is pushed to his limits, and I love dabbling in that darker side sometimes :)
